♂ □ ☋Mars Square South Node
Your fists are quick and your aim is old. Half your fights belong to a war that ended before you noticed.

What This Aspect Means
Mars needs a target, something worth moving toward. The South Node hands it one automatically, a battle already fought, a strategy already proven, a version of aggression or assertion so familiar it fires before you decide anything. This aspect means your action drive is wired straight into old survival instinct. You don't just act, you react in a pattern you already know works, because it worked once and the nervous system never got the memo that the situation changed.
The friction is real and it's supposed to be. A square doesn't let you coast on the old groove indefinitely, it keeps generating situations that expose the mismatch between what you're fighting for and what actually matters to you now. You win the argument and feel nothing. You defend the position out of habit and realize afterward nobody was attacking it. Life keeps interrupting the reflex.
What it keeps asking of you is harder than just calming down. It's asking you to notice, in the half second before you swing, whether this is your fight or an inherited one. The goal isn't to suppress Mars, Mars can't be talked out of acting. The goal is retraining what it's aiming at.
How It Plays Out in Relationships
With partners and family this often looks like conflict that escalates faster than the situation warrants, because you're not really responding to them, you're responding to a template. You may find you're the one who gets combative first, or the one who provokes a fight just to feel the old competence of handling it. Friends and lovers sometimes get cast in roles from an older story, the rival, the obstacle, the thing to conquer, without either of you fully agreeing to the casting.
The people who are good for you are the ones who call it, who say plainly that you're fighting something that isn't in the room. That interruption is uncomfortable and it's also the whole point.
Spun Gold
Once you stop defaulting to the old fight, what's left is genuinely rare, a capacity for total, committed, unhesitating action toward something you actually chose. Most people have to talk themselves into decisive movement. You've already got the muscle built, it's just been aimed at ghosts. Redirected, this is the aspect of someone who moves first and moves right.
Advice for the Road
Build in the half second. When the anger or urgency shows up fast and clean, that speed is the tell, ask yourself out loud if this is today's fight or an old one wearing today's clothes. If you can't answer immediately, don't act immediately. Save the fast, clean force for the fights you've actually chosen. There are fewer of those than you think, and they deserve the version of you that isn't running on autopilot.
