⚶ □ ←Vesta Square Ascendant
You show up in the world one way and burn for something else entirely behind closed doors, and the two rarely check their schedules with each other.

What This Aspect Means
This aspect puts your instinctive way of meeting the world at odds with the thing you privately kneel before. Your Ascendant is the mask you were handed, the automatic gesture you make toward every room you enter. Vesta is what you actually tend when no one is grading the performance. The square means these two don't cooperate on their own. Whatever you're devoted to doesn't automatically translate into how you're seen, and often it works against it.
The recurring theme is friction that forces a choice. Commit fully to the role your rising sign hands you, the confident opener, the quiet stabilizer, the conceptual net-caster, and the flame goes untended. Disappear into the work you actually love, and the persona you're supposed to be running goes slack, unclaimed, sometimes unreadable to the people watching you. Life keeps handing you situations that make you build an actual structure where both can exist, because neither devotion nor presentation will organize itself into that structure for you.
The shadow runs two directions. Overfeed the altar and you go feral, reclusive, unbothered by how you come across, which costs you the world's cooperation. Overfeed the mask and you get very good at showing up with nothing underneath, competent and hollow, unable to say what you're actually for.
How It Plays Out in Relationships
People experience you as a small contradiction they can't quite name. The self you present is reliable, legible, on schedule. Then you go quiet, absorbed, gone for days into something you can barely explain, and it reads to them as withdrawal or even rejection. It rarely is. Vesta doesn't consult anyone before it needs tending, and your Ascendant isn't built to announce that need in advance.
Friends and partners who last are the ones who stop taking the disappearances personally and start asking directly what you're tending. You'll have to tell them. Your instinctive presentation was never going to volunteer the information on its own.
Spun Gold
Once you stop treating the flame and the mask as competitors, you get access to something most people never build: a public presence that's actually backed by devotion instead of performance. You already know how to disappear into focused work. The underused move is letting that focus show up in how you present yourself, so people meet the real commitment instead of a smoothed-over version of you standing in front of it.
Advice for the Road
Protect time for the thing you actually tend, on purpose, on a schedule, so it stops leaking sideways into your public role uninvited. And when you go quiet, say so. One sentence, sent before you vanish, saves you from being read as cold when you're actually just occupied with something sacred to you. Let the two things overlap instead of taking turns.
