What Makes You Tick

What You Need (Even If You'd Never Admit It)

You need somewhere to put the feelings down without being asked to explain or resolve them immediately. Water helps, literally, a lake, a bath, a long swim, anything that lets the tide move through you without an audience. You need one relationship where the other person doesn't require you to have already decided who you are for them, where you're allowed to arrive unfinished.

You also need real trips, not metaphorical ones. Somewhere far enough that the leaving is decisive and the return has a shape. A finished journey gives you proof that closure doesn't have to mean death. That's the reassurance no conversation can give you.

Advice for the Road

Pick the door. Not the perfect door, the next one. You already know that some choices only reveal their wisdom in hindsight, so stop demanding certainty before you'll move. Let the wandering be a means of finding an answer instead of a way to keep from needing one, and when you feel the pull to keep circling a decision that's already been made in your gut, name it out loud to someone you trust.
