Cancer Sun, Taurus Moon, Scorpio Rising
You run a security operation disguised as a home. Warm soup, locked doors, and a stare that clocks exactly who's trying the handle.
What Makes You Tick
You are building a nest, and you take that job more seriously than almost anything else in your life. The house, the fridge, the people who are allowed to walk in without knocking, all of it matters more than it should to anyone watching from outside. But your version of safety isn't just emotional reassurance. It has to be physical. The same bed. The same person's hands. The same Sunday routine you'd defend with your life. You don't trust a feeling until it has a body, a smell, a texture you can return to.
Underneath the domestic instinct is something less cozy: an appetite for knowing who is really loyal and who is just passing through. You don't ask outright. You watch. You notice who remembers your birthday without being told and who forgets the second time. This isn't paranoia so much as due diligence, the crab keeping one claw raised even while it feeds you.
What you're secretly organizing your life around is permanence. Not excitement, not achievement. A place and a handful of people that won't disappear on you, tested repeatedly until you're sure.
The You Everyone Meets
People clock you as intense before they clock you as warm. There's a stillness to you that reads as unreadable, a gaze that seems to be evaluating rather than just meeting theirs. Strangers tend to either back off or get very curious very fast, sensing there's a whole operation running behind your quiet.
What they don't see right away is that the operation is mostly about comfort. You're not plotting anything sinister. You're deciding whether this person gets invited to dinner, gets the good blanket, gets let in past the moat. The intensity is real, but it's guarding something soft, not something sharp.
Your Blind Spots
You mistake control for care more often than you'd like to admit. The soup, the check-ins, the subtle tracking of who's drifting and who's staying close, it all serves the nest, but it can also quietly clip the wings of the people you love most, the same way the crab pinches at the hero's heel even as it claims to only want him safe.
You also hold on past the point of usefulness. Once someone's proven loyal, or once a grudge is earned, it's filed permanently. Stubbornness plus a long memory for betrayal is a hard combination to argue with, and you know it, which is why you rarely explain yourself when you go cold on someone. You'd rather they just feel it.
What You Need (Even If You'd Never Admit It)
Actual physical constancy restores you more than any pep talk. The same table, the same few faces, food you didn't have to think too hard about. You need a partner who doesn't flinch under your scrutiny and doesn't need it explained, someone who understands that the questioning is a form of devotion, not distrust.
You also need permission to stop testing. A stretch of time where nobody has to prove anything, where you can just sit in the sun on your own porch and let your guard actually go down instead of merely looking like it has.
Advice for the Road
Let the people you've already tested enough stay tested. Stop running the same loyalty check on someone who passed it three years ago, it isn't protecting your home, it's just keeping you both exhausted. Trade a little of the watching for some of the resting you're actually built for.
