You also need people around you who can handle your bluntness when it finally arrives, who won't be shocked that the gracious one has a temper. And you need permission, actual internal permission, to want something selfishly and act on it before you've checked it against everyone else's comfort.

Advice for the Road

Stop making the part of you that wants to act wait in line behind the part of you that wants to be fair. Not every decision needs a hearing. Pick faster on the small stuff so the big stuff doesn't have to carry all your accumulated impatience.
