Uranus

Uranus Who are you really? When you strip away all the borrowed opinions and tastes, when you remove the accumulated conventions of the culture which spawned you, what would remain? The signal for this gets fainter the older we get. The more it is buried beneath the weight of societal expectations, the more we begin to identify with our masks, with the roles we play in the lives we lead—or more often collaborate in. But if you listen closely there will always be a voice inside which says, "I'm still here! Don't forget about me!" This is the voice, the part of yourself you may have promised you'd get back to your dreams when it was safe to do so, the part of you that roots for the rebel and the underdog, that sometimes wouldn't mind so much to see it all burn to the ground.

Inside each of us there hides a dancing star. Uranus represents that sense that there is something universal, something cosmically unique about each and every one of us, and that yearns for the right to explore and develop our individual genius, regardless of what society, our friends, and even our family might think. When Uranus is active in your chart you may quite suddenly realize that no, you aren't going to take it anymore—as the great Dee Snyder once said.

Since Uranus stays in the same sign for long stretches, it is better to look at the houses it is in to see where and how in your life you may be able to tap into it's powerful genius magnification and try to see if you can discover what you might be known for.

Aspects it makes are also great places to seek its wisdom as well as keeping an eye on its transits.

If you'd rather not look into Uranus, don't worry. It's transits have a way of making themselves known, and Uranus has earned it's reputation as the Great Disruptor.
