Aquarius

Aquarius Aquarius—the Genius. Not necessarily saying that Aquarius will be gifted in mathematics or science specifically, or especially intelligent per se, but this sign is often given towards bursts of otherwordly insight. Uranus being the ruling planet makes a good amount of sense, though one of the inherent contradictions of Aquarius is its tendency to focus on the redemption of social practices while at the same time tending to exempt itself from their rules. It's is the soul of the redeemer, the one to whom God has shown the way, given the tablets. And we would in fact be lost in the darkness as a species without them. Aquarius is a fixed Air sign and though it is associated with the 11th House of Friendship, it needs and prizes freedom in order to pursue its hopes and dreams, to follow the logic of the visions and ideas which seem to come to them as revealed truth, regardless of what other people might say. It is this stubbornness which distinguishes and in some cases can torment the Aquarius. The tribe doesn't always welcome the reformer with open arms. Fortunately Aquarius doesn't really seem to care.

The danger, of course, is that they can get stuck in their own heads. Air signs generally have a tendency to have delicate nerves, and just on the other side of genius lurks its unruly cousin: insanity. It can be hard to know at times whether you are marching to the beat of your own drum or to the beat of madness. Developing a mechanism or means to incorporate more signals into your soul's progress plan is often required in order to be able to truly see through the beautiful vision of Aquarius to it's full glorious manifestation.

Myth The myth of Prometheus looms large over the sign of Aquarius. There is often a price to be paid by the one who delivers humanity from its current predicament, as the tribe, the Gods themselves seem to heavily resent those who overthrow the carefully established order. Power structures of all sizes inherently defend themselves, and you don't have to stray too far from the path of convention to feel the ire of the establishment, wherever it may be. Family dynamics, inherited social structures of all kinds, social relationships in your school, town, job — all of these play the role of unconscious reinforcer of convention and may not celebrate the gift of fire when it is first presented. Even if Prometheus knew that he would be chained to a rock, he would still have hidden the spark in the horn and carried it down the mountain. There is something fated about the desire to help humanity which overcomes the loneliness that often comes with it.

Consider the connection between weirdness and friendship. Often we don't show our true selves to people we work with—even our family at times may only see our masks—but friends are who we are most likely to be accepted for our true selves. This is why Aquarius is associated with the 11th House.

HAND OF FATE: Follow the signs you see, but try not to lose sight of who it is you seek to help, what it means in the larger context to live the truth you have discovered.
